At first this piece did not stand out
to me, but after walking by it a second time the bright colors of the
figures clothing attracted my eye. I really enjoy the small painterly
brushstrokes. They have slightly contrasting hues in the strokes of paint. I also enjoy how the
colors of the paint pop against the surface of the natural material it was painted upon.
The poses of the
figures seem as if they are climbing with in a natural environment; eager to explore and go
off onto a journey.
There were many more pieces in the show with this same concept and feel, however this triptych was my favorite collection of paintings. One
recommendation I have to the artist and to other artists who work on
a fragile and perishable surfaces would be to maybe seal the surface of the piece to prevent further decaying of the object.
