One Shot.

One Shot: Photo by Jacob Cartales, Work by Mallory Shumake (Senior, New Orleans Center for Creative Arts)

The fog and dark blue in the background give this piece a dark, ominous, feeling. I was particularly interested in the way the bullet was pushing away the fog. This piece was in the 10x5 art show at Dreyfoos School of the Arts in building two. It was made by Mallory Shumake, who is in the 12th grade at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. The space that the art show was in was very neat and looked very professional. The piece was made with oil on paper that was in extreme detail and was done very neatly which made it even more interesting. This piece was very interesting to me mostly because of the color used. The gold on the gun against the dark background made it eye catching. Another detail of the piece that made me interested in it was the use of line patterns on the side of the gun. It made me wonder what the meaning was behind it. When I saw this piece it was shocking because it was right after January when many of the shootings took place out in in the world and it reminded me of them, however I don’t think it diminishes the fact that this piece is truly a nice piece.
